Shared Private Flights

What are Shared Private Flights?

Shared Private Flights are a revolutionary new program created to save costs of private flights, by splitting the expenses between two parties. Most private flights fly with some empty seats, while another party may be chartering another private flight at about the same time and route. Since many private flights fly similar routes and schedules, coming and going to the same events or venues, like major holiday or vacation trips (Florida in late fall, the Caribbean around the Holidays, major sports events in Las Vegas, industry awards ceremonies, like the Oscars or Emmies, political conventions and other major events where people of means tend to gather) it is relatively easy to coordinate flight destinations and schedules.

How does one Share a Private Flight?

Shared Flights are arranged by a new division of Blue Star Jets, named appropriately Share A Jet Exchange. This devision was created directly in response to the demand of the client companies and customers wanting to maintain their standrads of air travel, while at the same time saving some of the expenses.

The service and the company behind it are best summarized by the recently published Press Release describing the program background and details:

With the recent launch of the Share A Jet Exchange, Blue Star Jets continues to dominate the private aviation industry and remain one of the world's leading private charter aircraft brokers. With a relevant grasp on the ever-evolving needs of their clientele and an understanding of the global fiscal crisis, the Share A Jet Exchange launched by Blue Star Jets, is the world's first online social networking site for travelers seeking to fly privately, while minimizing costs.

The Share A Jet Exchange has introduced travelers to flying privately together, helping clients connect with other flyers planning trips to similar destinations and arrange to share flights aboard a specific private aircraft. If a trip to the desired destination is not posted, clients may also upload their own travel plans with the aim of matching that with another traveler. Such a public, socially-interactive marketplace has allowed clients to plan trips together, while also testing out various aircraft that may assist in determining a preference. As the first site of its kind, the Share A Jet Exchange brings together consumers, travel agents, flight departments, jet charter companies and corporations seeking to save costs on business travel, while also opening the private aviation industry to commercial flyers, as it provides a savings of up to 50%.

This past fall, as the economy suffered a significant downturn, Blue Star Jets' clients began inquiring if they could share private aircrafts flights in order to lessen costs -- jet-setters sought to maintain their luxury lifestyle, while embracing a sense of frugality. As these requests grew, it became evident that Blue Star Jets possessed the volume to launch such a program. Holding access to an extensive network of private aviation operators, the Blue Star Jets team of travel specialists negotiates competitive pricing for every flight; in turn, with such savings components in place, the Share A Jet Exchange slashes an already lowered cost, resulting in unprecedented pricing within the private aviation industry.

The popularity of major travel destinations during specific times throughout the year - Los Angeles during award season, England for the Wimbledon Championships and Royal Ascot, Switzerland for Art Basel, France for the Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival, and St. Barth and South Florida during the holiday season - creates an essential need for travelers seeking to match itineraries with other flyers.

As Blue Star Jets granted travelers unmatched access to the private aviation industry through its centralization of the charter business, eliminating the need for fractional jet ownership, the Share A Jet Exchange has once again lowered the barrier of entry for travelers into the marketplace as it brings down the costs of private aviation by up-to-50%. For example, a private aircraft flight on a Gulfstream jet from New York City to Los Angeles is currently around $25,000; through the ShareAJet Exchange, that price could be as low as $16,000. In addition to being financially smart, the Share A Jet Exchange also keeps with environmentally-conscious efforts, as carbon emissions are lessened through shared flights. Share A Jet Exchange has opened the private aviation market to travelers who have previously solely flown commercial, as this Blue Star Jets program helps to lower private aviation costs, so that they rival the price of a first-class commercial aircraft ticket.

As a subsidiary of Blue Star Jets, Share A Jet Exchange has the capability to review and manage Part 135 Carriers, each meeting the most stringent of standards of the Federal Aviation Administration, while continuing to offer quality services to clients, as Share A Jet Exchange users also benefit from all Blue Star Jets luxury travel partnerships. Available aircraft include, but are not limited to, Gulfstream, Falcon, Jumbo and Citation X jets, as well as helicopters, and Turbo Props.

How does the shared flights process work?

The Share A Jet Exchange work like this:

  • Flights to be shared are posted on the exchange by:
    • the party chartering the flight
    • an Operator or
    • Travel Agent

  • The flight details are posted, including the following:
    • Departure airport
    • Destination airport
    • Earliest departure date
    • Latest departure date
    • Aircraft used
    • Number of seats open
    • Price of the shared section

  • An interested party then contacts the exchange administrator to discuss the details and make arrangement to share the flight

Naturally, all possible special services associated with any private flight, can also be arranged for a shared private charter flight, such as limousines, catering, special in-flight arrangements, arrangements at the destination, etc.

Are there other benefits to Shared Flights?

Shared Flights also have many other benefits, the primary ones in addition to costs, are environmental. When a flight is shared, there is a smaller carbon-footprint imposed on the environment, due to less fuel being used and less pollution being emited. Minimizing airspace congestion is also an advantage, as in popular venues, where many private aircraft are converging on a private airport, all around the same arrival or departure schedule, airspace and airport congestion may impose delays, extra consumption of fuel and passenger inconveniences. Shared flights naturally reduce incoming or outgoing aircraft, therefore minimizing such occurrances.

Why has this not been available before?

In order to create a well-functioning and well-acccepted shared private charter flights program requires an exchange that will list many flights and have many participants. If an exchange only has a few flights listed, potential customers are unlikely to use it, as it is unlikely to have many optons available. It required Blue Star Jets to be the company to create such as flight sharing service, due to the acceptance of the comopany as the leader in the private charter business. Since its founding, Blue Star Jets has become the recognized leader in the field, not only for its innovation in services, but also for providing the quality of services demanded by its customers.

Blue Star Jets has the recognition, experience and customer-base to create the new flight sharing service demanded by the private charter customers worldwide.
